Umm Al-Tabul Mosque

It was opened in 1388 AH / 1968 AD, and it is one of the luxurious modern mosques in Baghdad. It is located on the outskirts of the Yarmouk area towards the city of Al-Bayaa. It is the mosque closest to the highway leading to Baghdad International Airport.

The mosque is about a meter and a half above the ground, and it has a wide staircase of white marble. In front of the door is a courtyard adorned with marble columns and a luxurious chandelier. Verses from the Qur’an from Surat Ya-Sin were written on the stone, and verses from Surat al-Rahman and Ayat al-Kursi were written inside the sanctuary, which are in the handwriting of the creative calligrapher Hashem Muhammad al-Baghdadi in 1388 AH / 1968 AD.

As for the interior, it is rectangular, with a length of about 100 meters and a width of about 50 meters. In the middle of the mosque there are 98 columns of rare white marble, and between the columns the luxurious chandeliers are suspended, and on the ceiling there are exquisite inscriptions and writings inscribed by the hands of workers from Egypt who are skilled in this art.

The sanctuary has a magnificent mihrab, and it also has a pulpit made of luxurious teak wood made in Egypt. On the upper floor there is a chapel for women, and there are many large rooms and halls in it. There is also a summer chapel behind the sanctuary and a room for the imam and the preacher, and it has three external doors, and there are two large beacons above the main door. Each of them is 40 meters long. There is also a dome above the mosque built of white marble stone. Next to the large dome are two small domes.
