Khan Al-Nass

It is one of the oldest khans in the region and has several names, including Khan Al-Nass because it is located in the middle of the road between Karbala and Najaf, Khan Al-Hammad because it is located in a desert area devoid of residents at the time, and Khan Al-Waqf because it used to house visitors between Karbala and Najaf. The khan was built during the reign of the Ottoman governor Suleiman in 1774 AD, where brushed bricks were used in its construction to be a rest stop for visitors to the holy areas and travelers between the Levant, Iran and the Arabian Gulf.
