Jooli Minaret

The minaret is located to the west of erbil castle and is considered to be the second largest monument after the castle ,the minaret was built in Zengid dynasty of erbil, in the reign of sultan Muzaffar ad-Din Gökböri ( 522 – 630 ) higri , Sultan Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi was the son-in-law of Kokbari , the minaret stands at a height of 21.5 m and is located in the middle of erbil surrounded by a big park called the (minaret park) which has a cable car , the name jooli comes from the fact that it was located outside of erbil in an inhabitable place.
