Al-Ghazal Market

It is a well-known market in Baghdad, located near the Caliphs Mosque in Shorja. Al-Ghazal market was and still is a strange market, as it contains small shops selling dry grains, legumes and herbs, where other shops selling rare wild birds such as falcons and peacocks, in addition to rare dogs and ornamental fish. A minaret is located in the middle of the market inside its old mosque, which is known as the Caliph Mosque. It was called Al-Ghazal market minaret because a part of the mosque’s land was cut off and the market was built on one of its eastern sides.
